HIGH LEVEL DELEGATION FROM LEH-LADAKH VISITED ICAR-NOFRI
Seven-member high level delegation of Leh-Ladakh headed by Shri Tsering Namgyail, Hon’ble Chief Executive Councilor/Chairman Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Leh visited ICAR-National Organic Farming Research Institute, Tadong, Gangtok on December 21, 2018. The other dignitaries accompanied were Shri Phunchok Stanzin, Hon’ble Executive Councilor Agriculture, Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council; Shri Moses Kunzang, Additional District Development Commissioner; Shri Tashi Tsetan, Chief Agriculture Officer; Shri Tsewang Punchok, Chief Horticulture Officer; Shri Sonam Angchok, District Agriculture Officer and Shri Thinles Dawa, Assistant Soil Chemist, Leh-Ladakh.
During the delegation visit, Dr. R. K. Avasthe, Joint Director, ICAR-National Organic Farming Research Institute, Tadong, Gangtok welcomed all the team members and briefed about the ICAR-NOFRI research, development, technology transfer and capacity building activities to increase the production and productivity of organic farming systems in Sikkim. All team members interacted actively to get equipped with the organic farming technologies. Dr. Avasthe emphasized the need of good soil health in organic production system, he also briefed about the goat research activities, Vanaraja for backyard poultry, dairy farming and pig farming under deep litter system to delegation. The team also visited the Research Farm with Joint Director to get acquainted with the ICAR developed technologies.
